Nostalgia
2011The picture is of a purely fictional Art Deco cinema from the 50´s or early 60´s. The figures are however based on members of the artist´s family. The picture attempts to recreate the rather artificial and tinselly feeling of luxury and comfort for which these cinemas may be remembered.

Shores II Denmark´s shore
2008Denmark´s shore. My experiences from Denmark are largely through family holidays in the summer sun and through windsurfing. I have always seen it as a gentle, friendly and welcoming shore. The two female figures will be easily recognisable to people familiar with the so-called Skagen painters of the late 19 th. and early 20 th. Centuries.

Shores III Ireland´s shore
2008I recall Ireland´s shores from my youth. Ireland´s shore is where I was born and raised. The colours are bright and the fields often startlingly colourful while the sea is an integral part of life and the landscape. A dynamic shore, it can be wild and frightening but sometimes calm and serene.

Shores I Iceland´s shore
2008Iceland´s shore. I have lived and worked in Iceland for the past 40 years with my Icelandic wife and family. I know the shore well through work as a geologist and also through sailing on many ships to and from the country. It is a wild and often dangerous shore, but also very beautiful. Iceland´s fishing industry is still one of the country´s mainstays and pervades everyday life.
